The new football season begins on 14th August - Locks Heath FC,

Locks Heath Working Men’s Club and Warsash Wasps start warming up please…

Did you know there are over 4,750 teams and 55,000 players competing every week in local

football in Hampshire!

Founded in 1887, the

Hampshire FA is the governing body for all Hampshire Football. It is one of the largest County Football Associations in the

Country with a regional structure of six Divisional Football Associations

(Aldershot, Bournemouth, Isle of Wight, North Hants, Portsmouth and

Southampton) who govern and regulate local issues such as Leagues, Competitions

and manage the election process of delegates to the Hampshire FA Council.

Here in the Western Wards we have three adult clubs –

Locks Heath FC, Warsash Wasps and Locks Heath Working Men’s Club.

Locks Heath Football Club consists of 3 teams; the First Team who play in

the Hampshire Premier League; the Reserve Team who play in the Combination

League of the Hampshire Premier League and the Under 18s Youth Team who play in

the Hampshire Youth League.

Locks Heath FC was founded in 1894 and have played at the Locks Heath

Recreation Ground for over 70 years. They pride themselves on playing a ‘pure’

game, with an emphasis on passing. Their latest team is no different and

carries on the tradition in the Hampshire Premier League where it has competed

since 2007.

Locks’ first match will be on 14th August against Lyndhurst with

the kick off at 3pm. If you would like to go along to support them the match

will be at Wellands Road, Lyndhurst, Hampshire SO43 7AB.

You can follow Locks Heath FC’s progress throughout the season on their

website, and see what’s happening in the rest of the League on the Hampshire

Premier League Website.

Locks Heath FC are very keen to keep everything local – to support local

businesses and to be sponsored by them. If you are interested in supporting

Locks Heath FC financially, pitchside banners are now available at £200 for the

season. At the end of the season if you don’t wish to continue, the banner is

yours to keep or you can renew your advertising for the following season at a

reduced rate. They are also offering other sponsorship package. Call Dougie on

07733001063 for further details

Locks Heath FC are sponsored by Jopen Laptop Repairs and Segensworth Automobiles.

On a related note is Lillywhites in Whiteley really the only place locally

for football kit? It’s certainly the only one I know of. Let me know if you’ve

found somewhere else?!
