Youths continue to cause nuisance in Locks Heath Centre

Although the Easter break is now over and we came through relatively unscathed, the Locks Heath Centre continues to attract unwanted attention. There are two youths to be arrested for being verbally abusive to the centre manager. This area has seen a rise in nuisance due to the work being carried out in Priory Park.

Overall our main ASB areas have not been too bad over the holiday, however.

Priory Park has improved since Operation Hammock commenced and on Friday evening the Team and I shut down a house party in Campion Close with around 30 youths aged between 14- 17 being ejected. A large amount of alcohol was seized from the children and a couple of the more vociferous individuals were taken home to their parents, who dealt accordingly. I have no doubt, from some of the characters known to us at this address, that had this 'party' continued the surrounding area would have suffered numerous incidents of ASB, disturbances and calls from irate residents. I'll be completing a follow up visit with the lone 'responsible' adult on the premises later today.

Wheatlands has had a small rise in youths gathering in the children's play area and a moped nuisance in the surrounding footpaths, but again at this time it is quite low key and the groups disperse on Police arrival.

Theft from motor Vehicle continues to be a thorn in our side and I would urge you to ensure your car is locked and secure whilst left. Even if it is on the drive!

PCSO Coyle and Cairley set up and ran a youth club for one week in Whiteley. This went down very well and we will be looking to do similar in the Summer. Whiteley in the main is good at the moment with few calls to Gull Coppice or Sweethills Park and hopefully it will remain that way.

With the Summer ASB campaign approaching we will be looking to try and get Youth services involved in outreach work in our area and obviously will continue to address anyone overstepping the mark. Here in the Western Wards we have the largest concentration of young people in the Fareham Borough. In my experience, the majority are very well behaved, polite and approachable. It is just a shame that there are a few who give the rest some bad press.

That's it for this week,

I live near the children's play area in Wheatlands, I've never heard a thing that is out of order. In fact if I hear voices at night I don't mind at all. They don't seem horribly unruly to me and let's face it, as teens we all found parks to go to, what else is there to do?

Mr Warner thinks he owns the centre,
he winds up the kids so they retaliate at him and then they get in trouble and he doesnt?!?!?
you need to do something about adults not just the children in the area of Locks Heath.

In respect of Locks Road this is one of many Roads complained about on the Western Wards in terms of speeding cars. We have conducted OPS in this area in the past and I have recently requested that the road policing unit attend in order to enforce the speed restriction in this area.
