New security camera proves successful in deterring anti-social behaviour in Locks Heath’s Priory Par

Following a rise in anti-social behaviour in Priory Park, Locks Heath I have requested a new security camera be installed in this area. So far this has proven very successful in deterring bad behaviour and, coupled with the referral last week of three youths to the ASB panel, residents appear much happier. Obviously we will be continuing our efforts in and around this part of the community but it is good to see that it has been agreed we can remove this as a priority patrol area at this time.

PCSO Coyle and PCSO Cairley have been conducting Ops outside Whiteley School in relation to thoughtless people just stopping where they please to pick up children from school. This is a complaint we often receive. We are now working with the Council enforcement Officers and tickets are being issued when appropriate.

On the whole though it has been very quiet across the Western Wards in the past week. That said, with the lighter evenings coming in I expect to see a rise in calls to nuisance and anti-social behaviour in and around our green areas and parks. The Team have been out and about during the last week and I've even had a complaint of seeing 'too many coppers' in the Western Wards - nice one! We've also been carrying out leaflet drops with information about the team and the tasks set out by you, the community, at our various meetings.

Next week is half term and will no doubt bring it's own set of 'unique' challenges for the Team once again. As ever, with your help and feedback we will continue to make a difference. During the half term we have managed to secure a few hours a day with the Whiteley Leisure Centre in order to open a youth club for the week. We are hoping Youth services from the Genesis Centre will help us out a little with this and it will be a success. We have tried to set this up on a full time basis in the past but unfortunately have not been able to identify any long-term Volunteer assistance.

Until next week take care.
