Locks Heath’s Hamble River Rowing club is set to Launch with a splash (sorry) on 17th April, and everyone is welcome!

The club has been formed by the joining of three local river-based organizations: The Bursledon Regatta, The Hamble River Raid, and the UKs first and one of the most active sea scout groups in the country the Hamble Sea Scouts.

Events held by these organizations have been hugely successful over the years and interest in getting afloat on the beautiful Hamble River has grown correspondingly. Hamble River Rowing Club aims to cater for this by making rowing accessible to everyone wanting to get involved and enjoy their local river. The club will be for everyone - young and not so young, fit or wishing to get fitter, ladies who launch, and men who meander. Not just for competition but recreational rowing too.

Initially two Bursledon gigs will be made available to members via a central booking system, but more craft are planned as the club grows. The Jolly Sailor Pub at Bursledon is in full support of the new club, offering discounted meals to club members on Tuesday evenings, when there will be club rowing from the pontoon.

Hamble River Rowing Club is inviting everyone wanting to find out more to an inaugural open day on Saturday April 17th from 11.00am to 1.00 pm at the Jolly Sailor pub in Bursledon. Everything will be explained than and you can enroll on the day.
