Where do you book your Summer Holiday? Do you book online or

Online or at Locks Heath Centre's Thomas Cook - where do you book your summer holiday?
at Locks Heath’s Thomas Cook Travel Agent? Or somewhere else?
More and more people are booking their summer holidays
online these days. I carried out a survey among my friends to see where they
all booked their holidays. Of the 15 friends I asked only 4 used a high street
Travel Agent to book their holiday. Four got brochures from a Travel Agent and
use them to plan their holiday, but then booked it online. The remaining seven
just went straight to the keyboard and surfed for their vacation. These are some
of their reasons:
“I’m not keen on package holidays and feel that travel
agents usually sell that kind of thing. I’ve been on three package holidays –
one through a brochure, one booked online and one with a travel agent. The
latter was the worst holiday I ever had! I don’t want neon lights and pools
shaped like starfish!”
“I book online as I’m not sure if a Travel Agent is trying
to sell me something as they’re on commission. Also it’s easier to act stupid
online – noone to laugh at you!”
“All the information is at your fingertips online. You can
look at the hotels and visit websites that give feedback.”
Most felt that they had a greater choice online and all
online bookers thought they got the better deal financially.
What do you think?
The four who chose to book with a high street Travel Agent
said that they preferred this way as they liked the face-to-face contact and were
reassured because they could ask as many questions as they wanted.
I went into the Locks Heath Centre’s Thomas Cook to see what
they thought about this, but sadly they were unable to comment. It was lunchtime today, Monday
26th July; there were four agents behind their desks but the shop
was empty.
Are you off on holiday? How did you book?
I’m taking my children camping to the Jurassic Coast to find fossils. I'm booking this online.

We booked a holiday to Lanzarote through the Thomas Cook in Locks Heath for earlier this year. Only for one week, but needed to get away. We flew on the monday and by the thursday the Volcano in Iceland started. We had booked all inclusive and boy did the fact that we had booked with a good operator pay off. We ended off staying for an extra week and Thomas Cook footed the bill for everything. Others in our Hotel that had booked their flights with Ryanair and other airlines were not so lucky. Some were kicked out and had to find hotels elsewhere, but all of us that had booked the whole holiday with Thomas Cook where treated like royalty. Those who had booked the flights and hotel seperately where showing off when they arrived telling everyone how much they had saved, but when we got stuck out there, they're faces turned white when they had to fork out £150 a night to stay extra nights. A lesson to be learnt by all. I also paid the extra 39 pence on the car park insurance, so if we got delayed we would be covered. Thanks again to all at Thomas Cook. A 7 day holiday turned into 14 and we had a great time.

ReportI usually look for flights and holidays onlilne but then phone the company directly. I don't like paying by debit card onine and there is usually a charge for credit card bookings. I am also more old fashioned and like the contact of talking on the phone
