No Headteacher for Sarisbury Infants School?
By Silver0Surfer | Tuesday, October 06, 2009, 17:52
I am a Dad with a son at Sarisbury Infants School. We recently received a letter home saying that despite advertising the position 'the field of applicants was not strong enough', so they are readvertising the position in the hope of recruiting someone for the Summer term.
Can I ask what is wrong with the current deputy head, Mrs Weavers, who I thought is doing a fantastic job?
Sports Day last term was a proper competitive event, as it should be, rather than the politically correct 'there must be no losers' event it has been in previous years.
In my opinion she should automatically become the Head as she should be next in line anyway surely, other wise why have a deputy in the first place?

The Deputy Head is there to do just that - deputise in the absence of the Head. It does not mean that she necessarily has the skills required to lead a school on a permanent basis. You should be reassured that in the absence of a permanent head, your school is in safe hands, but that the Governors are determined to find the very best candidate to lead it forward.
