Montefiore Drive Unveilling: Councillor Susan Bayford (Mayoress), Councillor Brian Bayford (Mayor), Isabelle Woodward, Seán Woodward (Executive Leader), Cathy Knapman, Miller Homes
The unveiling ceremony on Friday was attended by our new Mayor and Mayoress, Councillors Brian and Susan Bayford and Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Seán Woodward, as well as Isabelle Woodward, who submitted the winning entry, and her fellow classmates in Year 3.
Councillor Seán Woodward, said:
"Montefiore is an important local name and it is fitting that this new road at the Coldeast site is named after the family who owned the Coldeast estate and played a significant role as benefactors within the Sarisbury community. I wish to thank the Year 3 pupils at Sarisbury Junior School and I enjoyed helping them unveil the road sign.
Claude Joseph Goldsmid Montefiore was born in 1858 and was son of Nathaniel Montefiore. He was one of the leading authorities in his day on education. His father Nathaniel extended Sarisbury School twice – once in 1874 and again in 1894.

Cathy Knapman, Senior Sales Manager for Miller Homes, the main developers on the Admirals Wood Estate said:
"We have had a close association with the school for quite a while and were delighted to be involved in this excellent competition,"
Tours of our development have taken place with some of the classes from the school to help them with a project they were undertaking. We take our responsibilities to the community very seriously where ever we build.”
