Detectives investigating the murder of 24-year-old Totton woman Stephanie Bellinger and her eight-month-old daughter Lili, have arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

The man was arrested by a police officer in Fareham this morning and is now being questioned by detectives at a police station in Hampshire.

Officers are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the case.

Stephanie Bellinger and her daughter Lily were found stabbed to death in the semi-detached home they shared with 21 year old Anthony Marsh on Saturday 27th February.

A post-mortem examination conducted by a Home Office Pathologist on the body of Stephanie Bellinger, has revealed that the cause of death was as a result of multiple stab wounds.

A postmortem examination will be carried out on Lily tomorrow Tuesday 2nd March.

The following joint statement has been released by members of the family of Stephanie Bellinger:

Stephanie was a fun-loving free spirit who was always happy and smiling.  Stephanie was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt and mother.

Lili was a bouncing, happy little baby who was a delight to be with, a little chatterbox who brought joy to our lives.

There are no words to describe how we, as a family, are all feeling.  We now have a huge hole in our lives which we have to try and come to terms with. 

The couple's two-year-old son Charlie was also in the house at the time but was found unhurt.
