Well done to Warsash Residents
-
Sergeant Dave Spacey Park Gate West Safer Neighbourhoods Team
association for all the effort they are putting in to try and address the issueof speeding in Warsash [story here] - obviously we are happy to be involved in this with them. Members
of the team have been out with the Vice Chair of the Warsash residents
association carrying out speed checks. We are now generating letters warning
drivers that they have triggered the speeding device and this has provoked
several replies. Some are actually quite polite! Obviously we will continue to
cover the area in this fashion.
Please be aware we have seen a
rise in theft from motor vehicles lately and this is continuing on the West and
East. Main targets are insecure vehicles and Sat Navs. As ever remember that vehicles need to be locked and take your sat nav out of your vehicle when
you leave it whenever possible.
Overall however the area has been
quite good. We are now looking to do some work and local Operations in relation
to Fireworks night and Halloween. This will most likely be along an educational
theme and also involve the Fire Service.
The new Parking measures at
Whiteley appear to be working well at this time. Once again this is down to
joint working between Police, Councillor Woodward, Schools, Highways and
parents. It's yet more proof that if various agencies and the community work
together we can get results. Obviously both the Police and Council enforcement
will pay visits to the area and enforce where necessary.
As expected, the parks are
starting to fall off the Radar now that the darker nights are pulling in. That
said, Council ACSO's seized a quantity of alcohol in St Johns Park recently.
Even though we have been seizing alcohol for the best part of 3 years some
youths still don't seem to get it. As a result we will be running Operations to
target this over October half term.
That's all for now,

you want to bring something to our attention or if you would like to have a say
in setting our priorities locally then pop along.
Comments
I think the speeding campaign is excellent and well done to the WRA for their initiative in launching it. I have written to the police, the council and the local MP about the problem of speeding around Warsash, in fact my children stopped cycling to school because of it. But it's not just the speeding, its common place for thoughtless drivers to double park outside schools or use mobile phones when driving. So many peope just disregard the law that they get away with it.
