Good Afternoon.

Please be aware we have had two more attempted dwelling burglaries on the Western Wards. These occurred on Monday in Newtown Road, Warsash and Sopwith Way, Swanwick. Fortunately for the householders nothing was taken as it appears the offender was disturbed. We currently have no idea if the two are linked but given that we get so few burglaries in the Western Wards I would think there is likely to be some connection. At this time of year we do see a rise in this type of crime as people will have presents in the house. Please keep an eye open for any suspicious callers or cars and occupants you feel are acting in an unusual manner. If I get anymore information on people or vehicles I will pass it on. Meanwhile if you find someone trying your back door or looking through your windows give us a call on 999. If you are not happy with a caller you answer the door to then call on 08450 45 45 45.

Fortunately, as those of you that read the updates regularly will know, instances of this type of crime are low and with your help in the past we have had some excellent results in catching the offenders.

On another topic, Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) is markedly down just lately. We have put in a lot of work in the affected areas and, working together with the Council, we have had meetings with some of our more persistent children. I hope this will continue. Some of the parents we have been to visit will remain on side with us and get the message across to their children that the vast majority of the community do not want to join in with their fun and games and would prefer it if these youths acted in a reasonable and mature manner when out and about. That said it is worth noting that we have an enormous population of young people living in the Western Wards and it is only a miniscule amount that cause us problems.

Until next week.
