Hampshire may not be the live music capital of the country

but when it comes to good value, smaller music festivals it is up there with

the Somersets of this world.  Last summer

saw the first ever Alresford Music Festival – a not-for-profit event raising

money for local charities.  The event was

held on the playing fields at Perins school in Arlesford and ran from 11am until 11pm.

Originally thought up by Alresford resident Ken Veitch as an

idea to raise money for local causes, he then teamed up with fellow musician

Brian Hayward and went about trying to turn the concept into a reality.  The reality took three years to materialise

and may not have made it had it not been for a last minute sponsorship deal

from local IT company, First Option.

Next year’s event is set to be even bigger and better and

the organisers are calling for demos from Hampshire bands of ALL varities to be

sent to organisers at:

AMF Music Review Team,

38 Stockbridge Road,

Winchester,

Hampshire,

SO23 7BZ.

Bands are advised that Demos should have at least three

tracks on them, song titles and the band’s details.

Co-organiser, Brian Hayward told the Southampton Echo, “We are looking to create an exciting

line-up that will appeal across the board and engage both young people and

their families.”
