Selling and Buying a House in Locks Heath

The

decision to sell our home and buy a house nearer to our daughter and

her family was, for me, an easy one. The reality proved more

difficult.

Just after

Christmas our house was put on the market. Plenty of viewers and,

although quite a lot of offers they were too low to consider. It was

also proving to be difficult to find a property that we liked and,

importantly could afford, in our chosen area.

Towards

the end of March, joy! We had received a realistic offer on our house

and had found one that we really liked within our budget. Phone calls

and, letters to and from estate agents, solicitors and surveyors

followed. All was progressing well, we even signed one contract. Then

the bombshell struck. Our buyer, after employing many delaying

tactics, decided to withdraw his offer. This meant that the house we

had chosen had to go back on the market, and so by the end of June

we were back to square one.

The summer

passed, uneventfully, on the housing front.

At the end

of October, while staying with our daughter we viewed more houses

and, although we found one that we really liked which became our

(very) short list, we were not in a position to make an offer as ours

was still on the market.

Three days

later a viewer made an acceptable offer on our house. Back in the

market again, we quickly offered on our 'short list' house and are

now in the process of phone calls and letters to and from estate

agents etc. again.

How

quickly the situation can change!
