I have posted comments on here before but never spoken about myself. After some thought I have decided to do it - to see if I get any replies.

Locks Heath Single Parents
I am very recently separated from my husband.
We moved here as a family just over two years ago and my children settled quickly into the local School. Being a Mum on the school run meant that I met other Mums and I too quickly made some good friends who, although I haven’t known them for very long, have been wonderfully supportive. Most of them are still happily married - I hope! - at least they’ve not said otherwise.
The problems in our relationship began several years ago but I think it was our move here that compounded the issues and brought matters to a head. We did try to sort things out between us but it seemed like the harder we tried the worse things got. Even the relationship counsellors Relate couldn’t help us. In fact the first thing my husband and I agreed on in months was how much they couldn't help!
My husband (we’re not yet divorced) and I now have an amicable relationship. In fact we get on much better now that we’re living apart, and we share the childcare, which so far seems to be working well.
I watched the Child Of Our Times programme on BBC1 last night which made me cry. Only 41% of the original couples remain married since 2000. That shocked me. What effect will this have on the children long term? What effect will my separation have on mine? I worry about this.
I have created a group on here called ‘Locks Heath Single Parents’. I’m not intending this to be a dating group, but maybe somewhere for us as single parents to share ideas and perhaps get some support from each other.
I’ll try to post more content here on a regular basis and hope it might be helpful to anyone in my situation.
