Hampshire Domestic Abuse Forum
I have just found out about a new website created to give information on domestic abuse - whether you are a victim, offender, friend or family member who knows someone in an abusive relationship.
The Hampshire Domestic Abuse Forum (HDAF) has teamed up with other Southampton based specialists and created a website that holds factual information, advice and support, and personal stories from people who have escaped abusive relationships. It provides an insight into the reality of living with domestic abuse and violence, and shows how victims can break free and rebuild their lives.
Some people are fully aware they are being abused. Other people may not realise that the way they are being treated is abusive as domestic abuse can come in many different forms. The obvious forms of abuse are the physical ones - acts such as kicking or punching. However mental and emotional acts such as humiliation, enforced isolation and verbal bullying are domestic abuse too. Even the controlling of finances and withholding money can be described as this. Whichever forms it takes, domestic abuse is a crime.
I hope this is of some help.
