Robin was nominated for Hampshire’s School Crossing Patrol

of the Year by Thomas (11) and Laura (9) Goodman from Locks Heath Junior School,

and only narrowly missed out on the title which was won by Bob Jackson from

Havant.

Thomas and Laura told judges: “We think Robbie should win

because the road he patrols is very dangerous. He signals to every car to say

thank you and he’s always out patrolling the road, whatever the weather.”

Robin was one of 12 finalists who were in the running to

become Hampshire’s School Crossing Patrol of the Year – a competition sponsored

by the Hampshire based design and web agency, The Escape. The overall winner,

Bob Jackson from Havant, was announced earlier today at the School Crossing

Patrol of the Year Awards Final, held at Winchester’s Discovery Centre.

Presenting the awards, Councillor Mel Kendal, Executive Member for Environment

said, “Children’s safety is a huge responsibility and we are very grateful that

we have such a dedicated army of school crossing patrols making sure they can

cross the road safely at the beginning and end of the school day. These people

are often the unsung heroes of our community and this competition is one way of

demonstrating the admiration we all have for them. All of today’s finalists are

obviously very much appreciated by the people in the community that they serve

and certainly deserve the recognition they have received.”

Robin Woodcock was presented with a

glass trophy, a £25 gift voucher and a certificate. A road safety goody bag was

given to the children of the families who submitted the 12 finalist’s winning

nominations.

The 12 district finalists were:

Basingstoke -   Tony Evans

East Hants – Kath Molloy

Eastleigh – Mary McInerey

Fareham – Robin Woodcock

Gosport – Christine Tiller

Hart – Julia Cook

Havant – Bob Jackson

New Forest (two finalists owing to the judges being unable to select an

outright winner) – David Dibble and Alan Dibdin

Rushmoor - Sue Ricketts

Test Valley – David Wilson

Winchester – Julia Lovejoy-Brinkman

"Thomas and Laura told judges" Would that be the same Thomas and Laura who are his grandchildren and don't use that crossing or a different Thomas and Laura?
