Locks Heath / Western Wards

/ Whiteley Councillors’ Question Time: Do you know who your local Councillor

is?

It’s very easy to complain

about things to our friends and family. However the best person to complain to

is someone who can actually make a difference!

If you have a question about

anything that concerns the services of Fareham Borough Council, Hampshire

County Council or Hampshire Police Authority then Conservative Councillors for

Whiteley and Sarisbury Wards, David Swanbrow and Seán Woodward would like to

hear it at their Councillors’ Question Time on Monday 27th

September, 7pm at Whiteley Community Centre. Although aimed mainly at Whiteley

residents on this occasion, both David and Seán would be happy to answer any questions

we may have here in the Western Wards.

The Council’s vision for

Fareham Borough is that is should be a ‘prosperous, safe and

attractive place to live and work.’

What do you think?

What do you think about the

quality of our environment - our parks, woodlands and green spaces? Do we have

enough leisure facilities?

The population is growing - what about housing – do we

have the right balance of private and social housing? How about our schools and education? Did your child set into your first

choice of school?

What about public transport

and roads here in the Western Wards?

It seems likely that the Chancellor will announce at least a 25% cut in funding for Councils across

the country in his Autumn Budget in October. For Fareham Borough Council this

amounts to £2.4 million with £1.7 million needing to be found from employee

budgets and 42 posts may need to be cut. Which departments will this affect,

and how will this in turn affect us?

The full document on the

Council’s vision, values and priorities can be seen here

and includes a five-year priority action plan, which is reviewed annually. The

Council's Local service agreements go into

further details about the Council's plans.

If you have a question but are

unable to make the meeting, or if you would rather remain anonymous for any

reason, then you can leave your question as a comment here - noone is able to

discover your identity from your username on the website. Or if you’d prefer,

feel free to email your question to me and I will pass it on (Locksheath@thelocalpeople.co.uk).

******************************************************************************************

Most Councillors hold several

roles on the Borough Council. Some hold several roles on more than one Council

- they may sit on the Borough and County Councils, as well as hold many other roles

in the community. It is therefore safe to say that most Councillors are busy

people. However they represent us and are keen to hear our thoughts.

Do you know who your local Councillors are? Each Ward has two Councillors representing them. To find out

more about your Ward’s Councillors or to see how to contact them, click on

the link:

Titchfield Common: Jack

Englefield and Keith Evans

Warsash: Trevor Cartwright

and Mary Nadolski

Park Gate:

Brian Bayford and Marian Ellerton

Sarisbury: David Swanbrow

and Seán Woodward

Locks Heath: Susan Bayford

and Ruth Godrich

Do you have a question of a sensitive

nature? Would you like to be able to ask this of your local Councillor anonymously via the website?

I am writing to all Western Wards Councillors to see if they would be prepared

to answer questions in this way – watch this space!

The next opportunity to

raise questions will be at the Autumn Community Action Team (CAT) Meeting on

Wednesday 17 November 2010 at Sarisbury Green Social Club from 7.00pm -

8.30pm.
