No Cycling!
June more than 300 charity Cyclists of the 2010 Solent Coasts Cycling
Challenge broke the Locks Heath’s Warsash/Swanwick footpath No Cycling ban!
The Warsash/Swanwick
footpath route (officially known as route 3a) was declared ‘No Cycling’ by
Hampshire County Council last summer when one landowner, with claims on a
100-yard stretch of the 2-mile route complained.
Saturday was the 8th
annual Cycling Challenge – a circular trip beginning at LYMINGTON FERRY
TERMINAL covering 66 miles of Solent Coastline and 6 ferry trips –
including the famous Hamble-Warsash Pink Ferry. Officially speaking all
309 charity cyclists were trespassing.
Warsash CATS (Cyclist
Along The Shore) is the group campaigning for a change in the status of
footpath to a cycle/pedestrian route in recognition of its long time use by
cyclists. The Campaign has now claimed the most Evidence Form submissions the
Council have ever received, and an application has now been submitted to change
the Definitive Map to reflect long and significant use by cyclists. The
campaign now has the additional support of the 309 Charity Riders who signed a
Petiton while on the Ferry.
If you would like to show
your support for the Campaign contact Warsashcats@btinternet.com.

ReportSorry about the duplicate posts, my firefox gives a "failed to connect" error when making a post so it looks as if it's failed to post the message. In IE8 it's fine.
