J B Priestley's 'immoral comedy' is brought to life in this new version. A well to do suburban householder is fed up with his sponging relatives and tells them a secret that will ultimately explode family values and their view of him.
Set on the eve of World War II, the Radfern family seems like a typical suburban family living in Shooters Green, one of London's newest suburbs. But the one thing that George Radfern is not happy about is his brother and sister-in-law constantly borrowing money off him. And then to cap it all off, his daughter's new fiancée also wants to borrow money. So, one evening, when his wife is conveniently out, he sits everyone down to dinner and tells them that he is a money launderer and they have all been enjoying the ill-gotten gains for years. The family is shocked but is unsure whether to believe him or not. Just when it looks like the whole thing is a joke, an inspector from Scotland Yard arrives asking questions which leave everybody wondering whether he is a crook or not. This play will leave everyone guessing right up to the end.
