TV BUSINESSWOMAN TO SPEAK AT LOCAL BUSINESS BREAKFAST
Saturday 17th November 2012 8.30am-10.00am
The Solent Hotel, Whiteley
Speaker: Dr Liz Jackson MBE
‘If you think you can…’
Ticket: £15
The Hampshire Christian Business Forum was started by a group of business people from Locks Heath Free Church who share the same passion; to ensure that no one stands alone in the workplace. The forum aims to gather people from both public and private sector environments and provide an opportunity to meet together and be equipped, encouraged, inspired and resourced.
The fifth Breakfast will be held at The Solent Hotel on Saturday 17th November and the guest speaker is Dr Liz Jackson MBE.
Liz Jackson is a truly inspirational figure and her story is extraordinary; as many would have seen when she was featured in Channel 4's Secret Millionaire programme. Since launching her telemarketing business, Great Guns Marketing, in 1998, the year she lost her eyesight, Liz and her company have gone from strength to strength Liz herself has been honoured by Her Majesty The Queen who awarded her an MBE in the 2007 New Years Honours for services to business. In 2012 she was bestowed with an honorary doctorate by Staffordshire University for her business achievements and for inspiring others.
The title of Liz’s talk, ‘If you think you can…’, refers to Henry Ford’s famous words which have become her mantra for her life; ‘If you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.’
Liz will recount the story of her business success starting from the lounge of her rented Basingstoke flat whilst losing her eyesight, to building Great Guns Marketing into the UK’s premier business to business telemarketing company. She’ll explain how her attitude to life and her ‘everything’s possible’ approach enables her to take barriers in her stride. She’ll talk about her views on luck and how failure should be celebrated. She’ll mention her approach to leadership and end with the audience believing that anything is possible.
A wide variety of people have attended previous Breakfasts, people working in private and public sector, large companies and smaller partnerships and retired people as well. Previous speakers have included Steve Gates (CEO of Denplan), Rob Parsons (CEO Care for the Family) and Mark Hoban MP.
Andy Banes, Chairman of the Forum, said – “We’re delighted to have secured such a high-profile speaker as Liz Jackson, and we hope that many local businesspeople will come along to enjoy an inspiring talk, great food and relaxed networking”.
