Please can anyone tell me whats happening to the Orchard Land on the bypass towards Warsash???. As a family we are very upset to see trees being ripped out. Seems to be no respect for nature around here. I think after Priory Park was built it was one small piece of land left for the nature in this area. Including a public footpath. There will be nothing nice left around here apart from houses and more traffic. My kids go to Locks Heath school which is lovely, but has seen a great increase in pupil numbers over the years and consequently many children are taught in terapin huts. i think the council should put a hold on these developments as we are seeing overstretched public services. But most importantly I wish there was more respect for the nature and wildlife in this lovely area, my place of birth. Thanks for reading Helen

If you are on about the land adjacent to Peters road/Lockswood road, then that has been owned by developers for a long time just waiting for the right time, originally owned, I believe by Laing homes, more recently, Taylor woodrow wimpey and the Highwood group .At one stage in 2005 there was a planning application for 243 homes, which by 2006/2007 had increased to 295-305 ish to include the allotted amount of social housing ( or as they like to call it now AFFORDABLE homes) in the middle of the whole complex.

Ferndown nurseries sold there plot to the builders also, so peters road residents will notice a difference to.

As of last weekend, speaking to my neighbour, who works for Wimpey part dealing with the social homes build, there part still has not had applications finally approved in entirity.

It looks like they have scraped all the open land to make a start on the road layout, here a couple of links, you may find of use

I too think it is a shame that this is being spoilt by building, all these extra homes, more traffic, etc more DOCTORS places needed.
