My husband and I were very sad to witness a beautiful cat being run over and killed in Locks Road today. Unfortunately the driver didn't realise what had happened, and she didn't stop.
We were surprised at how many people stopped to try to help, one man offering to take the cat to a vet, and another joining me in trying to find an owner in nearby houses. Unfortunately we couldn't find an owner, as most people were probably not yet home from work.
It occurred to us during a discussion with the people who had stopped, that we didn't really know who to phone. In this case, the cat died, but had her injuries been less severe, should we phone the police? Local vet? RSPCA?.
I'd be interested to hear what other people think.
