Parenting & Schools – Part.2.
So, come on, tell us please – how many of you dads actively (honestly too!) participate in the above? How many of you are single parents, so you experience all of the daily responsibilities of raising children? Is the infamous ‘school-run’ as bad as they say? Do you continually worry and argue over the contents of packed lunches? Does your whole day revolve around the school timetable, or is there room for ‘normal’ activities (like stopping for lunch)? Do you talk to the other parents about these issues, or do you keep it all to yourself for fear of being derided by mothers who appear to take this all in their stride?
Homework support seems to be the biggest issue in all families, whether single-parent or not, with some saying there’s too much, others complaining that they are not able to support the topics given because they weren’t their own best subjects at school! Do parents literally have to go back to school themselves for the duration of their child’s education? Can’t schools be trusted to teach enough of the syllabus within school hours to make homework less of a burden? Or is the best learning done at home, because the schools can’t cope?
There are many (intentionally) provocative issues here – let’s hear your thoughts please!
