Parenting & Schools – Part.1.
We hear a lot about the trials and tribulations of Mothers whose children are returning to school. Despite the ‘relief’ of the cherubs being off their hands once more after the onerous summer break, they now face things such as the nightmare school run, packed lunches, dinner money, uniform costs, homework etc. Whilst it appears to be all taken in their stride, there is an air of discontent that prevails with it all, especially homework support. This seems to be the case whether they are ‘single’ parents or not, although there is clearly an argument for it being more difficult for a single parent.
Ok, so we hear from Mothers. How about Fathers? How many dads participate actively in the day-to-day responsibilities of child-rearing? I was ‘fortunate’; because my employment allowed me to work from home, I was there to support the ‘daily grind’ in all sorts of ways, so I gained first-hand experience of some of the ‘hardships’ experienced by mothers. I also got to meet some single-parent families that were ‘father-led’; dads had responsibility for the children by virtue of separation/divorce etc. so I heard the other side of the story too.
