I have lived in this area for 9 yrs now and have always fely very lucky that to have an area as Locksheath shopping centre on my doorstep. I have used this centre all this time for mother and baby classes (with my grandson), yoga classes, pilates classes, gymtots (with my grandson), french classes and the all important library. The availability of all this under one roof has been fantastic and I cannot understand what the reason could be for closure!! Where would all these classes go? Where would the library go, and would another be of the same standard? This community centre is critical for the success of this shopping area, without it it is just a few shops and an out of the way petrol station; trade would gradually go down. What would we do with the building? Not more competition for the brave retailers already there surely!
It has been announced that Lockswood Community Centre is to stay open for another 6 months or more, whilst a new management is found. This means that all the local groups can continue to be run from there in the mean time. Good news for Locks Heath!
