Tax freeze is on for a fifth year in Fareham

In a move designed to help residents with tight household budgets, Fareham Borough Council has frozen its part of Council Tax for a Band D property at £140.22 (38p per day) for 2013/14, the same level it has been for the last 5 years.
Fareham Borough Council only receives a small amount (10%) of the total Council Tax residents pay. The rest pays for services provided by Hampshire County Council, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Authority and the Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner.
Council leader, Cllr Seán Woodward said: "Despite a further reduction in Government support for next year, we have managed to set Fareham's part of Council Tax at the same rate as was set back in February 2009 and the 7th lowest "district" rate in the country. This will benefit every single taxpayer in the Borough. We are committed to delivering good value for money for our residents and will continue to focus on maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction whilst continuing to minimise Council Tax increases."
